Reset & Recharge: Candlelight Nidra

  • WEST SEATTLE: 4801 Fauntleroy Way SW Suite 112 Seattle, WA USA (map)

*Livestream & In-Studio*
Sunday, December 5th @ 6:45pm PST

You are invited to RESET AND RELAX with us for a 75 minute Yoga Nidra class. Our Bliss queen, Tana, will guide you through an introspective experience of soft body movements and mindful meditation. As we enter the winter season this is the perfect way to welcome snowy energy in.

Yoga nidra, a Sanskrit term meaning "yogic sleep" is a deep relaxation technique and form of meditation. Yoga Nidra focuses on relaxation and complete detachment. In our practice, you will be guided through the koshas, or layers of being. You will lie comfortably while you are led through a sequence of cues to relax your body and awaken your unconscious and subconscious mind. In this yoga class, there won't be sweating or chaturangas, but you'll leave feeling refreshed and enlivened. What a wonderful way to energetically reset!

If attending in-person: Please dress in cozy , comfortable layers (your body cools at rest). Feel free to bring an eye pillow if you have one, and your favorite blanket.

If participating via livestream: a blanket and a quiet room (pets and children are loved dearly, but you'll want a place where you can be undisturbed for the full class).

Recommended for the class: Anything to set a relaxing ambiance in your room. Have candles? A diffuser? Make sure you are warm (your body cools at rest) and are able to lie comfortably. Some enjoy support with a pillow (or rolled blanket) for your neck and head, and if you choose - a bolster, rolled blanket or pillow to support your back or behind your knees. This is the perfect time to use your favorite essential oils (we love a drop of Lavender or Frankincense on each temple; or a combo of lavender and peppermint in the diffuser). An eye pillow is a great option and if you're like us ~ having your favorite crystals around for extra support makes the practice perfect.

Some fun Nidra facts:
- Yoga Nidra guides you into the deepest state of conscious sleep where the brain produces theta and delta waves. You remain conscious throughout, but may feel like you have fallen asleep for hours.
- Yoga Nidra is NOT hypnosis.
- Yoga Nidra is safe for the body and mind and can be incorporated into a daily ritual anywhere from 20 - 60 minutes a day.
- Studies have shown that Yoga Nidra has helped some people heal from trauma, relieve PMS symptoms, decrease anxiety, reduce stress, reduce chronic pain, improve sleep, reduce insomnia, decrease symptoms of diabetes, and the list goes on.
