Mindful Eating — Compassionate Living
An 8-week Course w/ Dr. Sharon A. Suh

Learn about mindfulness and how to meditate • Re-establish a joyful relationship to food and eating • Say no to diet culture, New Year’s diet resolutions, & food restriction • Learn how to be present with your food and avoid emotional hangovers and food-related guilt

In this course you will learn to:

— Re-establish a joyful relationship to food, eating, and your body.
— Find calm and confidence in your body through mindfulness meditation, movement, and mindful eating practices.
— Recognize how past conditioning such as family of origin, culture, etc. affects how you eat today.
— Notice and change the tendency to eat to go unconscious or to avoid difficult situations.
— Make peace with food and stepping away from the “good food” and “bad food” categories.
— Trust your own intuitive ability to nourish yourself with kindness and compassion.

Additional information:
Sharon believes all food is medicine in the right dose that is particular to you. This course is NOT a diet, nor does it prescribe to any particular dietary guidelines or nutrition plan. You will learn a variety of mindfulness exercises and ways to tune into your own body to determine how to best nourish yourself with kindness and in so doing, learn to take better care of yourself.

Sharon A. Suh is Professor of Buddhism at Seattle University. She completed her Level II certification in Mindful Eating-Conscious Living through the UCSD Center for Mindfulness and has trained extensively in Trauma-Informed Yoga and mindfulness.
